Front cover photo edits.
I think the last edit works the best because the first one defines the edges too much and the second looks too washed out.
Cover mock-ups.
I think the collage style background is too organised and repetitive in this one but I like how you can see the background through their legs which looks better than the other one were there is no gaps.
I have found that with the group of three people on the cover it is hard to add other information with out covering someone's face so I think I'm going to use a photograph of just the lead singer on the cover.
I have tried using the brush tool in photoshop to create a painted effect but it doesn't look very professional so I think I am going to use the layered collage style for the background instead.

Test shots.
I had to mess around with the lighting to get it right so that there was enough light but not too much artifical light from different areas of the room.
This lighting would have been ok because it didn't create too much of a shadow however Molly and Katie's hair would have faded into the background because it so light.
This lighting was too bright which made the subject too pale and their skin faded into the background.
This lighting worked well because the flash wasn't too bright so that it made the subject really white and the skin tone colour looks really natural.
This one was using the flash without any other light sources in the room which I think worked the best. As it didn't create too much of a shadow to the side of the subject and the subject stands out from the background.
Golden Spiral research.
Golden Spiral is the term used for a perfect spiral with the ratios of each curve being proportionate to one another.
As well as being present in nature it can be used in photography, to help create a perfect image. On the outer edge of the spiral an object will start then the subject will lead the eye into the centre of the picture for example the rose an onlooker would look at the edge then follow the nature spiral into the centre of the flower.

Identifying My Audience.
The younger generation in my target audience for my magazine is likely to be Young Alts (Young Alternatives) A social group of teenagers and young adults who listen too a wide range of alternative bands such as Nirvana, Green Day and You Me At Six. They are inspired and influence by anti-mainstream style and icons however they may incorporate mainstream fashion and music into their lifestyle. They are into specialist magazines and websites like Kerrang! and rather than broad mainstream corporations.

I asked 20 people, between the age of 15-17 both male and female, for their opinion on music magazines.
